About us

Our fraternity and its roots

Founded in 1913, AEPi now exists in Austria, Canada, England, France, Israel, Scotland, and the USA. Our basic purpose is not specifically religious, but rather social and cultural in nature. We help brothers cultivate their character, learn responsibility, and develop a proper set of values through engaging with each other as a brotherhood.

Our brothers are active on campus, leading every Jewish and Israel-focused organization and shaping Lehigh culture through IFC, Chabad, Hillel, Greek Emerging Leaders, Dreyfus, Thompson, TAMID, Student Senate, Lehigh Patriot, multiple club sports, and more.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I join AEPi?

Our brotherhood is a phenomenal support system of students who share their college experience. We guide each other academically, attend social events together, and participate in a number of brotherhood activities. AEPi is for students looking to widen their social landscape and grow as men.

I'm worried about my grades, will joining AEPi end up hurting them?

No; in fact, you will find the opposite. Our chapter proudly boasts one of the highest GPAs among Lehigh Greek organizations. Through study hours and peer tutoring, our brothers form a strong academic support system. Additionally, the time we ask each member to commit to the fraternity is not overwhelming so it is easy to take a step back and focus on your studies.

What is rush?

Rush is the recruitment process in the beginning of each semester where prospective new members have the opportunity to make connections with brothers in a variety of settings and events sponsored by AEPi. Rush is a time for you to get acquainted with the fraternity and the fraternity to get to know you; the most important thing we look for is the fit. See the next tab for "What is pledging?"

What is pledging?

Once invitations to join (or bids) are extended and accepted, the new members undergo a new member education program. The program is designed to provide each new member with all the tools they will need to become strong brothers, while at the same time setting the tone for the next phase in chapter membership and leadership. We aim to educate the new members about the meanings of Alpha Epsilon Pi while bonding the pledge class within themselves and the brotherhood.

Should I be worried about hazing?

Absolutely not. Alpha Epsilon Pi and the Sigma Eta chapter have a zero tolerance policy against hazing. Not only is hazing illegal and immoral, it does not make for a healthy chapter.

I'm worried that joining a fraternity is too expensive. What are dues like?

Joining a fraternity is certainly a financial commitment. Semester dues to fraternities at Lehigh may be upwards of $700 to $1,000. However, AEPi's dues are among the lowest as compared to other fraternities at Lehigh. Our Exchequer has certain mechanisms in place such as payment plans and scholarships to alleviate the financial burden, if necessary. Contact us for additional details.

I am worried about the party atmosphere of fraternities and the pressure to drink and do other drugs. Should I be concerned about joining AEPi?

No. AEPi promotes a social environment wherein these types of choices are left to the individual. We actively discourage the misuse or abuse of alcoholic beverages, especially by those under the legal age of consumption. In keeping with national, state, and local law, as well as Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and Lehigh University policy, we neither endorse nor condone the use of illegal drugs.
